The reality of facial masks has led to a newfound appreciation for the eyes as a focal point of self-expression. This insight inspired me to create Olharte, a series of digital illustrations and artisanal accessories that reflects my desire to express myself and find beauty in a world that can sometimes feel bleak and challenging, especially during the pandemic.
Olharte, which means "gaze" and "art" in Portuguese, features earrings, brooches, and hairpins, all made by upcycling scraps generated by the production of fabric facial masks in 2020. Each piece is carefully hand-painted, embroidered, and finished, making them truly unique and more sustainable.
By creating these vibrant and colorful pieces, I hope to bring a little bit of brightness to people's lives and inspire them to express themselves in their own unique way.
